Trees are Essential to the Water Cycle
Trees as Water
Trees are an essential part of the water cycle! See the liquid motion in these limbs? When we destroy forests, we break the water cycle; when the water cycle breaks, life on earth breaks. Act to protect the bond between waters and forests!! Act to protect our one home, our Mother Water.

Prayer for the Salmon Nation
Water protectors sing
drums speak.
Prayers rise with sage smoke
invite convocation.
Throngs seen and unseen call
Water is Life.
Ancestors dance
footsteps call out prayers.
Spirit cries warning:
waters given when
the world was new
speak in plain terms
epic floods
hurricane rain
tsunamis
poisoned water
Join bird nations
feathers in the hair;
join animal relatives
with furs on ochre bodies.
Ghost dancers leading,
sing unity.
Feet beat the rhythm.
Pray as One.
The Ghost Dance evolved as a ceremony associated with the Native American prophecy of an end to white expansion, and encouraged cross-cultural cooperation and non-violence among tribes. “Prayer for the Salmon Nation” was inspired by the ongoing efforts of the Puyallup Tribe and other Washington State Tribes who have always called themselves the Salmon People, and know the salmon in the Salish Sea are their ancestors. Their work to save the salmon creates positive ecological changes throughout the entire region.
